My current curl journey and routine✨
Something that defines me is my crown but its not just any ordinary crown, it's my Crown of Curls🌀 A crown that my ancestors have bestowed upon me and keeps me grounded in my roots. Growing up my mom took great care of my curls by constantly moisturizing and conditioning them. However as I got older I truly did not have the patience to take care of them. Through out my late adolescent years into my early adulthood years I usually kept my hair in slicked back buns, half up half down , or straightened and I barely stuck to a routine. I didn't start my transition because of a trend or a curl movement but because I simply noticed my curls looked over processed and unhealthy as you can see in the picture on the far left. Through trial and error I found what products work best for my hair, budgeted my finances to afford the right products , stuck to a predominantly clean diet, and eliminated heat to my hair.
Above are the main products I use to achieve and maintain my everyday curls:
Aunt Jackie's Curl La La Defining Curl Custard
EDEN Natural Pudding Souffle´ in coconut shea
Creme of Nature Coconut Milk Detangling & Conditioning Leave in Conditioner Spray
Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla (moisture & shine) leave in conditioner spray
Not pictured:
Cantu Complete Conditioning Co- wash
EDEN Coconut Co-wash
Garnier Whole Blends Illuminating Conditioner with Moroccan Argan & Camella oils
I usually do a routine of co wash about every week and a deep conditioning twice a month. After my wash routine I split my hair in to 4 sections and start moisturizing roots to ends starting off with my conditioning sprays and then ending with my curl defining creams. I usually let my curls air dry but I am learning how to get more comfortable with my diffuser. If any one has any great diffuser recommendations feel free to comment below or shoot me a message 🤗 In addition to taking care of my curls I also take 3 hair, skin, and nails biotin pills daily. If biotin does not work for you , I suggest eating lots of veggies such as cucumbers. Throughout this journey with my curls I have learned that you can achieve anything physically, mentally, or spiritually if you put your mind to it and stay consistent in your vision. I hope you guys enjoyed this blog and I encourage everyone to embrace natural beauty to fullest ✨
